Many Vietnam war returnees had
expectations of a wars welcome when they returned home. However, many were met with anger, hostility, misunderstanding and
indifference from the public, the media and their own families and friends. The Vietnam Veterans were doing a job their country asked them to do. They were fighting for a cause they felt was important to
their country. The treatment they were receiving was not justified in their minds. They were confused and undeserving of their reception home.
Today, decades following the end of the Vietnam war, many of our veterans continue to suffer from the effects of the war. Doctors report that recent interviews with Vietnam Veterans indicate that many of their current thoughts
and concerns are not only about the war itself, but about the manner in which they were received when they returned home from the war. To many, coming home was the beginning of another war. Another war of which they had no control and no opportunity of winning.
